Invisalign treatment Ottawa
Parliament Hill Dental
A modern, beautiful, and healthy way to straighten teeth.
Parliament Hill Dental is proud to offer patients this revolutionary orthodontic system that allows for teeth movement without metal.
You are likely familiar with traditional braces. They utilize metal brackets, bonded to the teeth, with a wire connecting them. Invisalign is an entirely different concept. This technique straightens teeth with a series of removable, transparent, plastic aligners. They fit snugly over your teeth, in a manner similar to an orthodontic retainer. The entire course of treatment is planned digitally. Each aligner moves your teeth a little bit closer to the optimal position, which takes two weeks. When you are finished with an aligner, you simply dispose of it and begin wearing the next one in the series.
As with most technologies, Invisalign has evolved for the better since it was first introduced. Invisalign now treats a wider range of patients with a broader array of conditions and severity of conditions. In addition to correcting mild cases of crooked and protruding teeth, Invisalign can treat more challenging dental problems that were formerly only suitable for conventional metal braces.
Invisalign treatment is a perfect fit with our foundations on next-generation technologies, holistic and biological approaches. Patients appreciate that they can see how their teeth will look post-treatment. Thanks to 3-D modeling our team can show you how your teeth will look through every step of your treatment.

Benefits of Invisalign
Invisalign is well-known as the discrete alternative to braces. The aligners are clear and very thin, so most people never notice them. They can even be removed completely for photographs or for very special occasions. However, that is only one of the many benefits to Invisalign orthodontics.
- The aligners contain no metal. They are made of biocompatible, BPA-free, transparent plastic resin.
- Traditional braces increase your risk of tooth decay and even gum disease during treatment because it is difficult to remove all plaque around the brackets. With removable aligners, you can brush and floss easily, and efficiently.
- There are no dietary restrictions because aligners are removed during meals.
- Straighten your teeth at your convenience. Enjoy hassle-free oral hygiene, and less frequent dental appointments than traditional braces require.
- Crooked or crowded teeth create tight spaces that can trap harmful bacteria, plaque, and tartar. Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, improving oral and overall health.
Invisalign vs Braces
Traditional braces use a system of wires and brackets, which place controlled pressure on your teeth to gradually shift them into alignment and you would need to see your Ottawa Invisalign dentist regularly for adjustments to the wires. These adjustments add pressure to the teeth and ensure the process moves forward as planned. Unlike Invisalign, only your dentist can remove conventional braces so they are considered a fixed dental appliance.
Instead of using brackets and wires, Invisalign uses a series of clear, BPA-free plastic aligner trays to incrementally shift teeth into proper alignment. These aligner trays can be removed for eating and cleaning, which reduces complications associated with traditional orthodontic appliances such as gum disease promoted by difficulty brushing and flossing between and around the braces.
Since Invisalign gets its straightening power from these trays, it is critical you wear them as advised. Generally, you should remove them for no longer than 2 hours each day. Not wearing these trays as recommended by your Ottawa dentist can jeopardize the effectiveness of treatment. Members of our team will see you about every six weeks, at which time they will ensure treatment is progressing as planned. Generally, you wear a new set of trays every 2 weeks. Each set is slightly different to incrementally shift your teeth according to your treatment plan.
